Cheated On, Dumped and He’s Dating Her?
Question by : Cheated on, dumped and he’s dating her?
I was cheated on by my boyfriend of 2.5 years. We were planning our engagement and always talked about our future together. I felt like I had found the person I had been looking for my whole life. He told me over the phone that he cheated on me, was not in love with me anymore and was still in love with her. He couldn’t even face me and give me the respect I deserved.
How do I move on from this extreme heartache? How could he talk about me being his wife, the love of his life, the person he was put on this earth for and so much more and then “fall out of love with me” in four days and back into love with someone else? He constantly talked about our future, wanting to add me to his bank account, how he made decisions based on our future together and how he wanted to be the best man he could possibly be for me.
After 3 weeks of trying long distance, he got a new job and moved back to my city to be live me because he said missed me so much he couldn’t spend another day without me by his side. We just went to New Orleans and he planned this amazing trip and spent $ 3,000 on me there.
He has since quit his job and moved back to Houston.
And it’s not like she is a better girl than me- she stripped behind his back while they dated, has a horrible drug addiction and spent 6 months in jail.
I feel like I’ve been hit by a Mac truck. My heart is shattered and I don’t know how to keep on going. How could this have happened so d@mn quickly?
I feel like a piece of trash he threw away and like I never actually mattered to him. I know that’s not true but I can’t help but feel this way. Now I’m stuck with the heartache, living in our condo, crying over him while he’s with her forgetting about me and the future he so wanted to have with me.

I’m sorry you’re in pain – and I understand completely. All I can tell you is that you WILL survive this and you WILL fall in love again someday. Until then, trust in the fact that this as a new journey in your life. Stay busy and do things you’d never had done if you were still in a relationship with this guy (volunteer, start a book club, travel, take dance lessons, gather your friends around, paint, join a sports club, take a night class, work a moonlight job, write a novel…). Be thankful there are no children involved (as was my case) and that you are free to move forward and do whatever it is YOU want to do with your life now. And when you least expect it, when you’re feeling strong again, love will find its way back to you (and it will be so much better)… but this is YOU time now. Don’t be ashamed, don’t feel like trash… the only person who will regret this mess will be your ex, and you’ll have moved on by the time he figures that one out.
