Took Lortab While Pregnant for Extreme Back Pain, Concerned About Drug Testing of Baby Due Anytime..?

Question by : Took lortab while pregnant for extreme back pain, concerned about drug testing of baby due anytime..?
No rude or nasty comments, I have legit reasons just read and reply.

I’m 38 weeks prego, I do not have any drug abuse problems. I was in a car wreck a year ago and now this far into my pregnancy as I have now gained 25 lbs the weights is triggering all the problems with my back from the wreck. My back hurts, spasms, and tenses so intensely that I cannot move and debilitates me at work. So the other day as I was in so much pain, I took three lortab 10’s, having been told it wouldn’t be harmful to the baby. However they were given to me by a relative and I am not prescribed. They helped me so much with the back problems, but now I’m concerned with my baby being due anytime, that when they drug test my baby at birth there could be trouble. I am on Louisiana Medicaid so I’m pretty sure they drug test. I took the lortab Thursday night, so how long will it be till it is out of my babys and my system? And what methods of “detox” can I use? I’m drinking cranberry and water and am going to do alot of walking. Again, no rude comments. This was only done for extreme legit pain, and though this medication is not currently prescribed to me, it has been whenever my back has had trouble in the past.
Jan- my relative in a nurse practitioner so I think he knows what he is talking about.
My wreck I was in, I was in a Honda civic tboned at 70mph by a Nissan Titan spun 3 times and hit a wall. All that was left of my car was the front seat and hood and I was paralyzed for a week from the waist down.

If they had been prescribed to you, it wouldn’t matter legally if the baby tested positive of not. Since you took them illegally, I don’t know what the rules are. I have no idea how long it takes to clear the baby’s system. The reason you are supposed to only take under a doctor’s advice, is these types of drugs can cause physical/mental/phschological side effects in the baby that an uneducated relative wouldn’t know about. I am sure glad you put a relatives knowledge above the well being of the baby.

And I do know what you are talking about. I was in a T-bone at 50 mph. My neck will never be the same. I was told I could take no more than 2 darvocet a week, and to try and avoid any use in the first trimester and the last few weeks until birth. I do know what chronic pain feels like. I have followed doctors advice. I made it through an entire pregnancy in agony, but I only used 8 pills. All my babies weighed more than 9 lbs at birth.
