How Do Drug Treatment Programs Help Society?

Question by cassie n: How do drug treatment programs help society?
I have to do a paper on this. I already have some ideas but I thought it would be better to get some people’s opinions too. If you can cite some sources as well, that would be great.

Drug treatment programs help in fostering a healthier society. With every person treated for his drug addiction, there’s one person brought back to sobriety and productivity. Productivity that society will benefit from. It also follows that when one gets treated from drug addiction, his loved ones will be happier and this will cause ripples of positivity. Researches have also shown that drug treatment decreases instances of crime, abuse, and spreading of diseases such as HIV and AIDS, among others.

Question by Tasteless Skittles: Hows this Drug addiction quote?
Ok, so i am now getting sober (1 week) after 6 1/2 years of drug abuse/addiction. I wanted to come up with my own quote for inspiration for myself. How does this sound?

Get out of the shade and see the light, because now it’s time to win this fight.

How is that? It makes complete sense to me, but does it sound good enough for anybody to understand? Be honest, and if you like it, take, just please give me credit for it.

Drug Addicted Family Member and Christmas?

Question by Blundt Cake: Drug addicted family member and Christmas?
My brother is a drug addict. He’s done everything drug addicts do- lies, steals, crashes with withdrawals, lashes out, mistreats people, “borrows” money, blames everyone, uses people, lives in denial, can’t keep a job, doesn’t pay bills.
He has treated my mother like dirt, doing everything to her just listed including standing outside her house screaming and cursing at her and most recently stealing Xmas gifts from her house that she bought for other people.
She has bailed him out for years — picked him up from ER, jail, court, gave him money (thousands!), paid his rent, bought food, etc. etc. etc.
