I have my Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, but I am very interested in a career change. My brother died a year ago from a drug overdose and even before he died, I was considering changing professions to become an addiction/substance abuse counselor. I can’t find any helpful advice on the internet given my situation. Do I need to start from scratch or does having a Masters Degree help me? Do I just need a certification, or do I need a second Masters Degree? What are my options? If I could participate in online courses, that would be the most ideal for me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

there are all kinds of drug addictions….
pot, coke, meth…..pick one….
all three cause family issues, there is also the pressure from friends to do it (mostly pot). and mostly in high school kids. there are lots of websites that can help you research it.

I have a son who has struggled with drug addiction, choice of drug is/was oxycontin. He is now in jail after some very poor choices and will be spending time in prison. He is 24. I am in Indiana and am looking for an organization that might be able to help me at his sentencing with information on these evil prescription drugs and what they are doing to our children. My son did not commit the crime, my drugged out son did. He once was a star basketball player and a 3.0 student.
