Drug abuse has become a major ill in our society. Drugs destroy the lives of their victims in many ways. These chemical substances are not intended to be introduced into the human body, and as a result, wreak havoc on bodlily systems. The heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and brain are often damaged by heavy drug use, and all of these organs are vital for life. Addicts very often place their drug of choice above family members and friends, leaving them alone and forced to fend for themselves. Addicts generally have no legitimate income as their drug abuse costs them the ability to obtain and maintain employment. Without income, addicts must resort to various criminal activities in order to obtain drugs. These behaviors can include robbery, prostitution and the selling of drugs. These behaviors affect not only the addict, but the rest of society as well.
